The 3rd Conference is to be hosted by UEIMS and is set to be held at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, which in fact is the venue for most of the government organized medical conferences. UEIMS was begun in 2003 with the aim of training world class medical professionals of tomorrow. Affiliated with two universities (International University of Health Sciences, St. Kitts & University of Seychelles, Seychelles), UEIMS provides degrees in both Medicine and Dentistry. Being one of the founding members of the EMSS, it indeed is a great privilege to host this event in March 2008. The event aims at improving relations in the medical fraternity and helps to educate people on the advances, treatment modalities and pathologies in the field of medicine. The crowning jewel of this year’s conference will be our Chief Guest His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Emirates Medical Association who has been kind to make time from his busy schedule to be part of this event and support the students.
The conference has many events allocated with it i.e.
- 2 Day Conference at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel followed by a yacht cruise on the second day.
- 1 day Pre conference workshop to be held at our campus and to one of our sister hospitals.
The event is to be held on 16th and 17th of March over 500 people with at least 150 doctors in attendance. This even is keenly supported by the All Kerala Medical Graduates association and Dubai Knowledge Village. In addition to this the conference will have its own publications highlighting all the presenters’ abstracts, guest speakers, judges and our elite panel of sponsors. This year’s event is indeed going to be a star student affair with numerous international speakers who will be giving key note speeches of academic and topical importance. Our elite list includes Padma Shri Dr. B.K. Goyal (Hon. Consultant Cardiologist & Clinical Dean, Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences), Dr. R.C. Deka (Dean, All India Institute of Medical Sciences), Dr. Anas Eid (President, International Federation of Medical Student Assoications) and Dr. Krishna Reddy (CEO, Quality Care India Ltd.). Like they say there’s no cake without the icing, this year’s icing on the cake are the presentations, which have been picked on the basis of academic quality, relevance and importance by our elite panel of abstract evaluators from Weill Cornell, Qatar, Hamdan Medical Centre, Qatar and Al – Nahrain University, Iraq to be further evaluated at the conference by our esteemed panel of professional judges. The top three presentations of all the categories will be given awards with certificates of excellence. So all in all, the conference promises to be a gala event and the attendees can’t wait to see what the 3rd edition has in store while the organizers work overtime counting down the days to the event. See you at the conference!
